Try to see if your property rights include well digging, if they do I would advise trying to get one. Also with a well permit in colorado you can have rain collection barrels on your land. Good luck jeanine!

UrbanShamanStarting a new venture into going off the grid (as much as possible) in my suburban home. Just started an above ground garden and looking into chickens and grey water uses. If anyone has any advice to help this experement work, please let me know..

We have a propane fridge and water catchment (rain from the roof). I have adjusted quite well to our lifestyle over the past 5 years to this degree of 'off grid' and this is LUXERY!

Because of my farming heritage, I am always looking at the soil when I travel to different places. Las Vegas where my relatives live has the worst soil in my humble opinion. You should have a much longer growing season in Texas than you had in Minnesota.
